The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, declared Siksha O Anusandhan deemed to be a University on 17 July 2007. In between the UGC expert team reviewed the SOA University during 10–12 August 2009 and has recommended an extension of three years effective from 2009/10 academic sessions. Besides, the NAAC team has accredited SOA University with “A” grade in the academic session w.e.f. 30 September 2009 and now it is a Deemed University according to UGCAct. All the eligible programs are NBAaccredited and the University is ISO certified byUnited Registrar of Systems(URS). The President of Siksha O Anusandhan, Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak is an educationist and a humanist as well. His simple vision nourished a noble rubric of institutions dedicated to different contemporary branches of education and research, that include technical, medical, business administration, just to name a few. The President is democratic in the true sense of term. Transparency in administration, proper delegation of authority and functional autonomy, emphasis on quality teaching and research is all that he believes in. All the institutions are state-of-the-art and have a meritorious talent pool of 560 faculty members. The schools of SOA University have evolved a learning ambiance that is flexible and suitable for dissemination of knowledge in the classroom, sessionals at labs / workshops and research is upfront areas. The only guiding principle is progressive innovation in education, administration and social responsibility. All this has given a respectable identity to SOA University. The objective of the university is to promote professional education, research, training and development in engineering, management, computerand medical sciences so as to cater to the need of engineering, softwareand hardware, medical and managerial personnel in the country. Under the banner of the university there are eight institutions at present. History The seed of the group’s educational enterprise was found in 1996 by starting of the Institute of Technical Education & Research (ITER), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and the evolution in the last 15 years has been the birth of other institutes in Medical, Dental, Nursing, Management, Hotel Management, Pharmacy, Biotechnologyand Law. The group of institutes was grouped under a University structure since 2007. The University is socially inclusive with an open admission process through its National level test SAAT and other National level tests such as AIEEE, AIPMT, CAT, XAT, MAT, CLATetc. The university’s academic offerings include undergraduate, graduate and research programs. All these programs have academic rigour, and periodic up-gradation of curricula in order to keep the students up-to-date of contemporary development. The placement record of the university students, both UG and PG, is a testimony to the acceptance of these processes by the market. The Research programs of the university have been reinforced from 2007 onwards, are also showing steady progress. The Ph.D. regulations have been framed to keep in line with regulations of reputed institutes like IITs. The number of full-time scholars is increasing continuously. Commensurate to this, the university is establishing new centers and advanced facilities in existing departments to promote research. The university is committed to these activities to much higher levels in the coming years. The university also supports large number of research projects of faculty members by in-house funding. The steady growth of facilities, the ambitious growth taken, and setting up of research centers serve as catalyst for the University to move towards the path of excellence. In the path of the building up and strengthening the university, the leadership of the management and academic teams are taking all steps required in the right directions. The growth and change paradigms do put strong pressure on the university yet the path of progress has remained on the right track. Some of the directions are visible by promotion of research activity, constant revision of academic curricula, transparent and strict valuation, increasing number of collaboration with other institutes. Institute of Technical Education & Research, Bhubaneswar | Institute of Technical Education & Research (ITER) The Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), established in 1996-97, is located at Bhubaneswar and is spread over 40 acres of landscaped area within the corporation limit of Bhubaneswar. It is 8 kilometers from Bhubaneswar Railway Station, 4 kilometers from the Airport and 2 kilometers from the Govt. bus stand. The institute is responsive to the changing demands of the society. ITER has attained the status of a premier institution of engineering and technology in eastern India. National Board of Accreditation (AICTE) has accredited and reaccreditaed all its eligible programmes. ITER has gained respectability in technical education for its innovative curriculum, impressive placement, industries interface and well qualified faculty members. The institute has an enrolment of nearly 5600 students who follow a pre-announced academic calendar.
